Review of Women’s Overnight Golf Trip at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

Last week, I had the pleasure of experiencing a Women’s Overnight Golf Trip at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa with my mom and aunt. This resort holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I first learned to golf and regularly practice, given its proximity to my home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. From the start, the friendly staff have made me feel welcome, fostering a sense of community and friendship.

Rich History and Beautiful Grounds

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has a rich history, originally opening as the Lake Geneva Playboy Club Hotel in 1968, inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Marcus Hotels purchased the property in 1993, and today, it spans approximately 1,300 acres. The resort offers a variety of activities, whether you’re there for business, leisure, a wedding, or a girls’ weekend, with amenities like a spa and fitness center.

Arrival and Lunch at the Clubhouse

We arrived at the resort and enjoyed lunch on the patio at the clubhouse before our women’s golf clinic with Alex. The staff’s warm welcome and menu recommendations set a positive tone for our visit. We met Samantha and Jenna from the marketing department, who helped organize our stay, and shared a delicious Bavarian pretzel appetizer with three dips. It’s a must-try if you visit Grand Geneva.

Golf Clinic and First Tee Experience

Our golf lesson with Alex was a highlight. Although I only started learning golf on Women’s Golf Day 2022, I’ve made significant progress thanks to the Women’s Golf Clinic at Grand Geneva. My mom and aunt, who were new to golf, also had a blast and were hitting golf balls by the end of the lesson. We shared many laughs and enjoyed the supportive environment.

After our lesson, we headed to The Highlands Golf Course. With two courses on the property, “The Brute” and “The Highlands,” we chose the latter. As a newbie to playing on a course, I was both excited and nervous. I teed off first, while my mom and aunt enjoyed driving the golf carts. Playing 9 holes was both exhausting and exhilarating, and I learned a lot about pacing and the importance of sunscreen.

Luxurious Accommodations and Dining

After golf, we checked into our newly remodeled hotel room in the main building. The upgrades are impressive, giving the resort a modern feel while maintaining its charm. We then headed to our dinner reservation at Geneva ChopHouse. The dinner was exceptional, from the waiter’s recommendations to the ambiance of dining on the patio overlooking the fire pits. We indulged in scallops, filet, fish, and the highly recommended lobster Mac & Cheese. The evening was filled with laughter and memorable moments.

A Relaxing Morning and Poolside Leisure

Thursday morning allowed us to sleep in and enjoy the views from our patio. We greeted fellow guests and appreciated the beautiful surroundings. After packing up, we spent the day at the pool, enjoying iced coffee from The Lobby Lounge and adult beverages. Samantha from marketing checked in on us, adding a personal touch to our stay.

Final Thoughts

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is an ideal getaway for family, friends, or couples. Nestled between Milwaukee and Chicago, it offers a perfect blend of relaxation and activities. Whether you’re a golfer or just looking to unwind, the resort’s amenities, friendly staff, and beautiful grounds make it a top choice. This trip was filled with laughter, learning, and lasting memories.
